And it's heads up

Henrik makes it 45 to play, David thinks for a while and makes it 145,000. Henrik immediately moves all-in and David calls. David has AJ and Henrik has K8os.

The flop is 8KT turn 5 and the river 2. Henrik wins the pot, just under a million chips and is now a huge chip leader going into heads up, he has 2/3 the chips in play at least, we're going on a break so an accurate count will be with you shortly.

The Irish interest ends

Joe Rafferty moves in for 150,000 with A4. Mats calls with K8 and the board ends up:

326 84.

Joe is out in 4th with 69,500 and receives a huge round of applause from the audience.

David Pomroy on the move

With a decent amount already in the pot, he was heads up with Henrik and Henrik bet out 100,000 on the river. David made it 300,000 and Henrik stopped to think.

He paused to eat his crisps whilst considering the situation but in the end decided to fold. David takes down a healthy 300,000 pot and perhaps there's a shift in the balance of power?

5th placed Pete Haslam

(Monday, 31 October 2005 at 12:26 am)

Down to 4

Henrik, who has been taking down pot after pot, moves again on the button, raising to 3 times the big blind. Pete has had enough and reraises all-in.

Henrik asks for a count but before it's given calls. If he loses he will still be chip leader and he knows that. Mats folds.

Henrik turns over K,J and Pete Haslam's aggression was mistimed, he had 85. The flop was 79J giving him a gutshot straight draw and Henrik top pair. A 2 and A were no good and Pete Haslam is out, he cashes 59,500 euros.

Joe Rafferty in again

He has K9 to Pete Haslam's 67 and is too short stacked to get rid of him.

The board ends up QTQ QK.

Joe doubles up.

(Monday, 31 October 2005 at 12:05 am)

Pete picks up the blinds

but next hand Henrik raises to 45,000 and Pete calls. The flop is rags and Henrik sets him all in. He passes.

Joe and Pete are the short stacks and Henrik has a big lead, which he increases further the next hand, making it 50,000 to play. Mats calls from the big blind and the flop comes down A59.

Mats checks to Henrik who bets out 75,000 and takes down the pot. He has controlled the final table for the most part and it appears that he is going to bully his way to victory. Of course, in poker things rarely happen quite as you expect them to.

And they do the job!

He makes it 60,000 to play in the cutoff. Joe Rafferty calls on the button and they see a flop. It comes down Q, 6, 7 and David Pomroy bets out 100,000, leaving him with mostly yellow (1,000) chips.

Joe sets him all-in and David is not happy. He lays back in the chair and thinks for a couple of minutes. He's committed far too many chips to the pot to get away from it however and really he has to call knowing he's behind.

He didn't realise quite how far behind however, he shows A, 9 to Joe's pocket sixes for ace high to trips. It must be those lucky glasses however, because an 8 then a 10 come down to make David the straight - Joe's disgusted, David is very relieved.

Pete doubles up

He moves in with AK and doubles up through David Pomroy, who is now the short stack but not down to the felt yet.

(Sunday, 30 October 2005 at 11:12 pm)

The commentary is changing regularly.

At the moment it's Luca Pagano on the mike, Norman Pace (from Hale & Pace) who was playing earlier in the tournament but didn't make the money, stops up to check up on chip counts. He's going to be next up.

Should be interesting.
